MEDIA STATEMENT-ELECTROCUTION OF 3 PEOPLE IN BLOEMFONTEIN

CENTLEC (SOC) LTD STATEMENT ON THE ELCTROCUTION OF 3 PEOPLE IN BLOEMFONTEIN.

CENTLEC (SOC) Ltd has learned with great shock of the sad news of the passing away of 3 members of the community who were electrocuted this past Saturday in one of the tavern’s in Bloemfontein.

Our team visited the area of the incident on Sunday, the 10th February 2019 and conducted a preliminary investigations on the cause of the electrocution.

The preliminary investigation has, thus far, revealed matters of non-compliance by the owner of the property and as result, we have immediately switched off the place and issued the owner with a Stop Work Notice as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act. The notice shall be enforced until such time the owner has produced or submitted to us Compliance Certificate (CoC) from accredited electrician approved by the department of labour.

The other matter that relates to an unfortunate passing away of the three people will be left into the hands of the South African Police Services (SAPS) for further investigations.

CENTLEC (SOC) Ltd Board and the entire staff will like to pass their sincere condolences to the family members of the deceased and may their souls rest in eternal peace.
